Canada has welcomed the success of the National Dialogue Conference in Yemen. Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, in a statement issued on Thursday, a copy of which was received by the Yemen News Agency (SABA), expressed congratulations to President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, and the Yemeni people on the occasion of the success of the dialogue. Baird also expressed congratulations for all the political forces that participated in the national dialogue on the historical achievement and the success of the conference in the framework of the ongoing political transition in Yemen. "At a time when Yemen faces economic difficulties and immense security challenges, the Yemeni people announced openly its aspirations through the results of the dialogue, mainly for a more open society that respects freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law," the Canadian minister said in his statement. He hailed the choice of the federal system for Yemen, considering it as a key step in the path of freedom and fair democratic elections, which Canada strongly supports. Baird further said his country would continue its strong support for Yemen in this transitional phase, including the technical assistance and training to those involved in the drafting of the new constitution.
