US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter stressed his country's support for Iraq to preserve its unity and sovereignty.

He further congratulated the Iraqi government for its victories achieved against Daesh terrorist group.

The remarks were made during Carter's meeting with Iraq Prime Minister Haider al Abadi here on Wednesday.

The meeting took up the victories achieved by the Iraqi armed forces against Daesh as well as means of enhancing joint cooperation in the domain of armament. They tackled also the regional situation.
