Chaos prevailed in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Friday evening as violent clashes erupted between supporters and opponents of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, according to Xinhua correspondent at the scene. Thousands of pro-Morsi protesters marched to 6 October Bridge near Tahrir Square on their way to the state TV building to protest against the ouster of Morsi, where they confronted Morsi\'s opponents who have been celebrating Morsi\'s removal in the square. \"Gunshots were heard during the clashes between the two sides, with Morsi\'s proponents on the bridge and his opponents underneath, vehicles were set ablaze on the bridge and traffic was paralyzed,\" a witness told Xinhua. \"Dozens were injured so far in the clashes,\" the witness added, noting a big march of Morsi\'s supporters came from nearby neighborhood Shurba is to join the protesters. Turmoil escalated over 6 October Bridge as a large group of anti-Morsi protesters ascended to confront his supporters, while hundreds of the Islamist protesters are still gathering outside the state TV building. Backup of security forces arrived at the scene to separate between the two sides, the witness added. The state TV quoted anti-Morsi protesters as saying that at least two were killed and 70 injured in the clashes.
