Seoul - TAP
The US and China have reached a tentative agreement late on Monday on a new sanctions resolution to punish North Korea for its nuclear test, UN diplomats say. The deal came after North Korea carried out its third and most powerful nuclear test in February, an initiative condemned by countries all over the world. The details of the deal reached by the two countries have not been unveiled. North Korea threatened on Tuesday to give up a 60-year armistice with South Korea. If the South pursued annual military exercises with the US that began on Friday, North Korea\'s military said it would end the truce this month. The Korean War ended in 1953 with an armistice and not a peace treaty, which suggests that the peninsula is still at war, technically. The North have already made similar threats before, following the military exercises and pressure over its nuclear programme, highly considered by the country as acts of aggression.
