China is set to appoint a diplomat well-versed in Japanese affairs as its new ambassador to South Korea, a source here said Thursday. The Chinese government selected Qiu Guohong, director general of the Department of External Security Affairs at the Chinese foreign ministry, as the new envoy to Seoul to replace current Ambassador Zhang Xinsen, according to the source.
