Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed his country's keenness on defending its sovereignty and maintaining the unity of its territories.

The minister's remark came during a press conference with his US counterpart John Kerry after discussions held in the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

The talks between the two sides took up bilateral investment treaty, loosening restrictions on high-tech exports, tension in South China Sea and the nuclear issue in North Korea, according to official sources.

During Kerry's two-day visit, he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
