Chinese peacekeepers

A new group of Chinese peace keepers left China on Tuesday to join the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Chinese sources said the new group whose number amounts to 85 will start their job in clearing mines, delivering humanitarian aid and protecting the internationally-recognized borders between Lebanon and Israel.

China dispatched its first detachment of peacekeepers to Lebanon in March 2006. Currently, 180 engineers and 30 medical staff are working there.
