Clashes erupted Tuesday between street peddlers and police in the northern Tunisian town of Bizerta, killing one person, Tunisian media reported. A 70-year-old man died shortly after inhaling teargas used by the police to dismantle scores of illegal stalls set up by street vendors near a local market. A number of people were reported to be injured in the incident, radio Shems FM reported. Similar incidents occurred throughout Tunisia in recent months. In March, a cigarette vendor immolated himself after clashing with the police in the capital Tunis.
