The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Zeid al Hussein underlined that combating terrorism aims at backing democratic values and human rights.
The official's remark came during his speech in the 28th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Geneva till March 27.
Al Hussein underlined his support to the efforts exerted by the world countries in fighting extremism, adding that terrorists, their financiers and weapon traders will all be brought to justice.
The UN official expressed concern over violence acts committed by terrorist Daesh group in Syria, Iraq and Libya.
He further denounced the acts of Boko Haram in Nigeria.
