Comoros said in a statement Thursday it cut relations with Iran after a cabinet meeting and asked the Iranian ambassador to leave the island nation immediately.

According to Bloomberg, the government had already called back its envoy in Tehran on January 4 amid a diplomatic standoff between Saudi Arabia and Iran following the kingdom’s execution of 47 people for terrorism-related offenses.
