An official of Dagestan’s counter-extremism centre was killed in Makhachkala early on Tuesday. Unidentified criminals shot dead Kazim Shabanov at around 08:15 Moscow time, when he was leaving his apartment building, the republic’s investigative department spokesperson told Itar-Tass. An investigation is underway.
