Officials in Croatia are investigating a 90-year-old man accused of committing war crimes as a Nazi soldier and guard at the Auschwitz death camp. Germany's Special Prosecutor's Office for Investigation of Crimes during the Period of National Socialism alerted Croatian authorities about the suspected war criminal, Jacob Dencinger, Croatian news agency Jutarnji reported. Dencinger was born in Cepin, Croatia, but was an ethnic German. A man with the same name in joined the Waffen SS elite Nazi unit at the age of 18 and served as a guard in at least five concentration camps during World War II, Jutarnji said.
