Cuba will mark its National Defence Days on Saturday and Sunday with military drills involving most of the population as part of the island's popular war strategy to defend against potential aggression. The national exercises follow the four-day military drills, "Bastion 2013," which ended on Friday. The drills -- the largest in the last four years after 2012's planned exercise was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy -- involved regular troops, reservists and the population in general. Cuban President and Army General Raul Castro congratulated the people on the success of Bastion and encouraged them to participate massively in the National Defense Days. Cuba's popular war concept stresses the use of all material and moral resources of society. Every Cuban has a secured way, a mean and a place to fight the enemy if the country is invaded and even occupied.
