Cyprus denounced the assassination of Egypt's prosecutor general Hesham Barakat, adding his killing is a crime targeting the stability of Egypt.

In a statement distributed by the Cypriot embassy here, the foreign ministry said Cyprus is standing behind Egypt in its war on terror.
