Jerusalem - KUNA
Israeli Deputy Minister of Defence Danny Danon said Saturday the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was opposed to the two-state solution envisaging the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. This issue has never been discussed at all by the incumbent Israeli government since it was formed, Israel Radio quoted Danon, a Likud member of Knesset, as saying. If it is raised, it will face staunch opposition from the ruling Likud Party and the (far-right) Jewish House Party, he said. Prime Minister Netanyahu keeps calling for the resumption of the peace talks with the Palestinians though he believes that Israel will never be able to reach peace with them, Danon opined. Commenting on the Jewish settlement expansions in occupied east Jerusalem, he said these constructions will continue despite regional and international criticisms. \"Let them (the international community) say whatever they like and we will do whatever we want,\" he satirically said.
