United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura held meeting on Tuesday with Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II.

The meeting aimed at bringing a political solution to the ongoing crisis in the Middle Eastern country, said de Mistura spokeswoman Jessy Chahine.

Following the meeting, the special envoy highlighted important role of the religious leaders in Syria to reach a solution for the bloody crisis.
