The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported Friday that 1,870 people have been killed since the beginning of the Geneva II Conference on January 22.The daily average rate of deaths amounts to 208, SOHR said in a press release this evening. The deaths include 431 civilians who fell victim to the regime's air, missile, artillery and sniper fire across the country; 40 people who starved to death in besieged areas, including 32 Palestinians in Al-Yarmouk refugee camp to the south of Damascus; and 481 fighters from the opposition factions.The fighting between the regular troops, on one hand, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Al-Nusra Front (ANF) and other Islamic groups, on the other, claimed 152 lives while 56 ISIL fighters were killed in clashes with other Islamic groups in Aleppo, Idleb and Al-Raqqa.At least 309 regular military personnel including officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers were also killed in that period in addition to 206 members of the national defense corps and pro-regime militiamen. SOHR appealed for the international community to act urgently to stop the fighting and end the human rights violations in Syria before attempting to find a final peaceful political solution.
