The delegates of African nations in the United Nations threw their weights behind Egypt's bid for a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council in 2016/17.
In a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in New York, the African diplomats expressed their trust in Egypt due to its deeply-rooted role in Africa.
Shoukry is now in New York on a six-day visit for talks on garnering support for the UNSC seat bid.
Elections for Security Council membership are due to take place in October 2015.
