Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov has said that direct supplies of weapons to the Syrian opposition contradict the Geneva communique, Russian Itar-Tass news agency reported on Wednesday. “If the West really launches direct supplies of weapons to the Syrian opposition ,this will contradict the letter and spirit of the Geneva communiqu?,” Gatilov said in his Twitter microblog. Russia was reported to have been supplying Syria with military equipment over the past months to confront the popular uprising raging across the country.
