Dozens protested in Kabul to demand closure of Guantanamo prison

Dozens of civil society activists gathered in front of the US embassy in capital Kabul to demand the closure of Guantanamo Bay detention camp, Khaama Press reported.

The protesters, some dressed in orange uniforms like the captives wear at Guantanamo prison, held banners with slogans say ‘Close Guantanamo! Guantanamo a shame on Human Rights! Guantanamo and Bagram a mole on the forehead of democracy! You can kill us but not our thoughts! I was a detainee ask me! ’

Some of the protesters identified themselves as ex-inmates of Guantanamo saying that human rights are badly violated there.

They also blamed President Barack Obama for not fulfilling his promises made during the first days of his presidency.

Protesters read a joint statement at the end of the demonstration asking the United States to also close all of its hidden prisons besides Guantanamo.
