The Dutch forensic institute (NFI) and police are investigating the death of former health minister Els Borst, who was found dead at home, Dutch media reported Tuesday. The NFI will investigate the body, which was found in Bilthoven on Monday evening, to see whether the death of the 81-year-old was caused by an accident or by a criminal act. Borst was a Dutch politician for the Democrats party D66. She served as minister of health, welfare and sport from 1994 to 2002. She became well-known for implementing a law legalizing euthanasia in the Netherlands under certain extraordinary conditions.
