The Awqaf Ministry condemned on Saturday attempts to attack a number of mosques in the Cairo neighborhood of Mokattam. Awqaf Minister Advisor and spokesman Sheikh Salama Abdel Kawi urged all political parties to stay away from houses of worship, including mosques and churches. He asserted that mosques are not part of the current political dispute, condemning attempts to turn the worship places into locations where Egyptians assault and kill each others. A number of mosques were stormed on Friday in Mokattam during clashes between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and opponents.
