The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed resentment over the reactions of some countries and international organizations on the court rulings issued Saturday sentencing many defendants to death in two trials involving espionage and prison break charges.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said commenting on rulings issued by Egyptian courts is inappropriate as it constitutes an interference in domestic affairs, something that is outright rejected.

Any negative references to the Egyptian judiciary are completely unacceptable at both the official and popular levels, the ministry said.

The Egyptian judiciary is reputable and enjoys the respect of all segments of the Egyptian people, it added.

The ministry expressed astonishment over some countries defending persons accused of terror acts and are receiving trials before an ordinary judge and under ordinary laws.

Those countries, meanwhile, ignore or are slack on purpose in issuing statements to denounce the ugly terror attack that occurred Saturday in North Sinai and claimed the lives of three judges, it added.

Instead of purportedly defending human rights and rejecting court rulings, those sides should have taken care of their own business instead of meddling in the affairs of other countries, especially that some of them suffer blatant violations of the simplest rules of democracy and human rights, including restrictions on journalists, judges and social media, racism and xenophobia, the ministry said.
