Egypt deplored on Monday attempts by the M23 rebel group in The Democratic Republic of Congo to topple the regime. Foreign Ministry spokesman Amr Roshdy reiterated Egypt's support for the African Union's stance rejecting such rebel bids. He said that Cairo welcomes a joint statement issued by the leaders of Congo, Rwanda and Uganda on the crisis, said Roshdy. Egypt also supports efforts exerted by the government in Congo to preserve its unity and territorial integrity, he added.
