Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Saturday with Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Secretary-General Sindiso Ngwenya.

The meeting took on the outcome of a summit of three African economic blocs, including COMESA, that was held in Sharm El Sheikh in May, said Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesman for the foreign ministry.

Executive steps to establish a free trade zone among the three blocs were also discussed.

They mulled Egyptian plans for cooperation with COMESA member states.

Ngwenya praised Egypt's return to play an effective role in the bloc.
