Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed on Thursday with Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni ways of fostering bilateral ties in various political, trade, economic and investment fields.
This came during a meeting held between the two ministers in Rome, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati.
Also, they touched on ways of strengthening relations between Egypt and the European Union (EU).
Shoukry and Gentiloni talked in detail about a number of regional issues, notably the situation in Libya and how they could support the Libyan government and efforts exerted by the UN special envoy to Libya to push forward the political solution.
The meeting also tackled with the political and field situation in Yemen and efforts to restore legitimacy there, Abdel Aati added
The Syrian crisis and the situation in Iraq were discussed during the meeting.
They probed the situation in the Horn of Africa and other African issues.
