Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni called on Sunday for a political solution to the Libyan crisis to put an end to terrorist attacks and illegal immigration attempts there.
Gentiloni expressed happiness for visiting Egypt for the first time since he assumed office as Italian foreign minister.
This came during a meeting between Gentiloni and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.
Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Aati said the two ministers discussed ways of bolstering bilateral ties in all fields.
A number of regional and international issues of mutual concern were tacked as well, atop of which is the Libyan crisis.
Shoukry stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with his Italian side until reaching a solution to the Libyan crisis.
The two ministers discussed the latest security and political developments in Libya as well as ways of supporting the UN's endeavors to solve the Libyan crisis.
