Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Maltese counterpart George Vella in Spain where Egypt's top diplomat was attending a ministerial EU meeting.

Shoukry is taking part in a consultative meeting of the European Union and southern Mediterranean states on the European neighborhood policy.

Foreign ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Atti said talks between Shoukry and Vella tackled ways to boost bilateral ties.

They also discussed the latest developments in Libya, the spokesman said.
