The two major bombings that hit the Syrian capital, Damascus Wednesday morning were not likely targeting the Egyptian embassy, Egypt's foreign Ministry announced Wednesday. Two massive explosions hit the Syrian capital, Damascus today morning near the army command building. The fire has broken out in the area but no casualties were reported, SANA news agency reported. Deputy Spokesman of Egyptian Foreign ministry Nazih El-Najari said today in a press release that the bombings resulted in slight damages to the embassy's headquarters. None of embassy staff members were hurt. He confirmed that they were keeping a constant contact with the embassy in Damascus and getting updated with the latest on the staff members' and residents' safety, alike. Meanwhile, an official source at the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus affirmed to Egyptian news agency MENA that the Egyptian diplomats at the embassy were unharmed and that officials were currently assessing the damage to the embassy building.
