The Egyptian-American Strategic Dialogue meetings kicked off here on Sunday under the co-chairmanship of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his American counterpart John Kerry at the Foreign Ministry premises.
The inaugural session opened in the presence of high-profile representatives from both ministries as well as administrations concerned with the Egyptian-American relations.
Also, representatives from a number of ministries, including international cooperation, investment and trade are attending.
The inaugural session will be followed by meetings of two committees working on the technical issues concerning the two sides along with the political dialogue between the two ministers.
The dialogue will cover terrorism, Iran's nuclear deal, the expansion of the UN Security Council, the situation in Libya, Yemen, Iraq and Syria, Africa as well as other issues of common interest.
A final report will be referred by the two specialized committees to the foreign ministers and their recommendations will be approved by the general committee that will convene later. The two ministers are scheduled to hold a joint press conference at the end of the dialogue sessions.
