Egypt's Assistant FM Ossama al-Magdoub

Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for the neighboring countries' Affairs Ossama al Magdoub on Saturday received Italy's envoy to Libya Giuseppe Grimaldi and the country's ambassador in Cairo Maurizio Massari.
The two sides discussed the recent developments in Libya and scenarios put forward to deal with it.
The Egyptian diplomat emphasized the fundamentals of Egypt's position that is based on supporting the legitimate government in Tobruk and the importance of enabling it to carry out its duties, which include confronting terrorist and extremist groups.
The two sides also agreed on the political solution as the only way to end the crisis, through a Libyan national dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations.
The Italian envoy stressed the importance of Egypt's role in supporting the Libyan people and the efforts made to restore the stability in Libya.
