Culture Minister Abdel Wahed el Nabawi met on Wednesday with Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Takehiro Kagawa to discuss cultural cooperation between the two states.

Nabawi praised Egypt's deeply-rooted relations with Japan, noting that Tokyo was chosen as a guest of honor at Cairo International Film Festival.

They tackled preparations to organize an Egyptian cultural week in Japan later this week.

Kagawa, for his part, said culture plays a vital role in combating terrorism, noting that his embassy exerts strenuous efforts to develop cultural ties with Egypt.

He also expressed his country's readiness to hold different cultural events in Egypt during the coming period.
