Egypt’s Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Thursday met with U.S. Senator Bob Corker and the delegation accompanying him, currently on a visit to Cairo. The meeting discussed domestic and regional issues, in addition to means of enhancing Egypt-U.S. military ties. Corker reiterated the US support for military cooperation with Egypt, and Washington’s confidence in Egypt’s ability to crush criminal activities in Sinai, tackle smugglers and reclaim control over the country’s eastern borders through the ongoing military operation in Sinai.
