Cairo - Arab Today
An Egyptian delegation, led by Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Ambassador Hisham Badr, left here to Brussels to participate in an EU-Africa meeting on Thursday.
The meeting is held to prepare for Malta summit on illegal immigration in November.
In statements, Badr said that Egypt is concerned with illegal immigration and that Cairo will hold a meeting in Sharm el Sheikh on September 13-14 to combat illegal immigration.
Egypt is keen on finding sustainable solutions for the illegal immigration crisis including resolving armed conflicts and wars as well as establishing developmental projects in areas where immigrants flee, Badr underlined.
Europe has to commit to receiving immigrants from war-torn countries like Syria's neighboring countries, the diplomat said, pointing out that Egypt has received 350,000 Syrians.
An image of a Syrian boy lying face down on the beach has sparked an international outcry over the human cost of the crisis.
Thousands of migrants have died this year trying to reach Europe by sea.
