The Egyptian government offered Tuesday one of its buildings to the Italian embassy to be used for consular works for several months.

The offer was made due to the renovation works of the Italian consulate, downtown, which was struck in a terrorist blast weeks ago.

The decision came amid the distinguished and deep ties binding Egypt and Italy.

On July 11, a car bomb went off outside the Italian consulate, leaving one person killed and ten others wounded.

The explosion also inflicted great damage to the building, but none of its staffers were wounded.

The consulate was closed at the time and suspended its consular works then.
