Egyptian-Indian relations to witness quantum leap in 2016

The Egyptian-Indian relations will witness a quantum leap in 2016 at all political, security, defense, commercial, cultural and investment levels, said India's Ambassador to Egypt Sanjay Bhattacharya.

Egypt is a pioneering country on the Arab and African arenas, Bhattacharya told diplomatic reporters on Monday.

He praised meetings held between leaders of both countries, noting such meetings reflect deep bilateral relations binding between Cairo and New Delhi.

The Indian diplomat said that the economic institutions in India are interested in investing in the New Suez Canal Development project.

An Indian university will be inaugurated this year in coordination with the Egyptian side, he noted.

Bhattacharya congratulated the Egyptian government and people on the convocation of the House of Representatives.

India stands by Egypt in face of terrorism, which has no religion or ideology, he said.
