Egypt’s Intelligence Service Chief, Major-General Mohamed Raafat Shehata and Hamas Politburo chief Khaled Meshaal on Saturday discussed the escalating situation in Gaza and Egyptian efforts to stop the Israeli aggression. Shehata and Meshaal explored means of ending the aggression, and possible procedures and mechanisms of ending the bloodshed in the Strip. Major-General Mohamed Raafat Shehata cut short his visit to Turkey in order to follow the developments in the Gaza Strip. Shehata returned to Cairo on Thursday afternoon. Shehata was expected to hold talks with Israel and Hamas movement for ceasefire. The Israeli Air Force carried out air attacks over the past four days killing three members of the Hamas movement’s military wing, bringing the total number of Palestinian martyrs to at least 39 and hundreds were injured since Israel launched the Operation Pillar of Cloud earlier Wednesday and which has been a large scale operation carried out over the past four years.
