A committee that headed to the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies to inspect its activities was assigned by an investigating judge over a foreign funding case that dates back to 2011, the Social Solidarity Ministry said.

The committee was assigned by the investigating judge in charge of the case, the ministry said in a statement, denying any connection with it.

The ministry confuted reports that the committee was formed in response to a speech given by the center chairman at the European Parliament, saying that it supports civil work and had approved the foreign funding of several civil associations worth EGP 800 million in one year.
