Egypt's ambassador to the Vatican Hatem Seif Al-Nasr met with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Vatican's Foreign Minister, on Tuesday.
The meeting came after Seif Al-Nasr has submitted a copy of his credentials to Vatican deputy prime minister Giovanni Angelo Becciu in preparation for submitting them to Vatican Pope Francis.
During the meeting, Seif Al-Nasr handed over Gallagher a letter from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Francis.
In the letter, Sisi highlighted the deeply-rooted ties binding Egypt and the Holy See, the foreign ministry in Cairo said in a statement.
