UN Special Envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting with head of the UN Support Mission in Libya Bernardino Leon Friday to discuss ways to resolve the Libyan crisis.

The meeting tackled a fourth project to reach a political settlement to the Libyan crisis, which has been floated recently by Leon, said spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Aati.

Leon briefed Shoukry on the initiative put forward to the Egyptian parties.

Leon said he is planned to visit Egypt during the coming period to complete consultations to bring to an end the crisis in Libya.

Shoukry stressed the importance of giving the Libyan government and parties a chance to study the submitted proposals.

He called for dealing with the Libyan government as only legitimate representative of the Libyan people.

Shoukry reiterated Egypt's firm stance in support of the Libyan government's right to lift an international embargo on weapons to be able to restore security and stability in the country.
