Washington - MENA
Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi urged the US on Thursday to play more active role in fighting terrorism.
During a symposium organized by the US Institute of Peace in Washington, Essebsi said fighting terrorism, achieving security and boosting economy in Tunisia will support democracy in the country.
Speaking about the Libyan crisis, Essebsi said Tunisia is currently hosting more than 1 million Libyans, who fled their war-torn country due to the deteriorating situation there.
"I hope that both Tunisia and Libya would overcome the current crisis and restore their stance in the region," he said.
