The European Union expressed Saturday its concern at the latest developments in Egypt and Lebanon.The EU said that the lack of consensus was the reason behind the instability in both countries. High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton released a statement today saying that she was particularly concerned by the renewed violence in Cairo and by “the general climate of increased domestic instability in the country,” she said in her statement. She called on all the parties involved in Egypt to “enter into a broad-based and inclusive dialogue to overcome the current political stalemate and the serious political divide.”On the developments in Lebanon, Ashton renewed the EU’s commitment to supporting security forces in Lebanon and the Lebanese people.
