High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federico Mogherini condemned an attack that targeted the Italian consulate in downtown Cairo.

In a statement released by EU office on Saturday, Mogherini said the attack proved that Europe is still targeted, asserting that such attacks would not weaken the will of the Egyptians and Europeans to combat terrorism.

She reiterated that the EU would back Egypt in its war against terrorism, terming it as a common challenges, voicing hope that those who are responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
