Leaders of the 28-member European Union will hold an informal meeting in Brussels on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine.
"Our meeting will be dedicated to three major themes: the fight against terrorism, the situation in Ukraine, relations with Russia, and the Economic and Monetary Union," President of the European Council Donald Tusk said in his invitation letter to the EU leaders.
He noted that Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko will brief them on the developments in his troubled country.
"We will assess the situation and consider any appropriate action," said the letter.
"We will then turn to the fight against terrorism, in the light of the Paris attacks and latest events. I have asked some colleagues to share their experience in fighting terrorism. We will agree a statement setting out the political orientations that will guide further, intensive work in the coming months," said Tusk.
Finally, the EU leaders will look at the issue of better coordination of economic policies within the Economic and Monetary Union.
