EU ministers

The EU's General Affairs Council (GAC) represented by foreign ministers or state ministers responsible for European affairs began a meeting here Tuesday to discuss terrorism and a revision of the EU's multiannual financial framework.
"This is the first GAC under the Latvian (EU) Presidency. The first subject we are going to discuss today is the fight against terrorism, we will all take stock of what our justice and home affairs ministers have already discussed and decided," Edgars Rinkevics, Latvian foreign minister, told reporters ahead of the meeting.
A second issue, he noted, will be the transfer of certain funds within the multiannual financial framework of the EU for 2014-2020.
They will also talk about the agenda of the EU summit to be held on 19-20 March.
"We have three provisional topics, energy union, the external relations with particular focus on the fight against terrorism and also Ukraine and Russia," he added.
