The European Union (EU) hailed on Friday the Political Agreement inked between Libyan rival factions in the Moroccan city of Skhirat.

In a press conference, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini welcomed Thursday's deal as "an important step towards restoring peace and stability in Libya".

"The EU pledges its support to the upcoming Government of National Accord, and will no longer have official contacts with individuals claiming to be part of institutions which are not validated by the Libya political agreement," she added.

Also, Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the Libyan peace deal, describing it as a significant step on the road to bring about peace and stability to the people of Libya.

" look forward to its implementation and to the formation of an inclusive national unity government," Stoltenberg added.
