EU Foreign Ministers Monday voiced "deep concern" about recent developments in Ukraine and urged all actors to seek through dialogue a democratic solution to the current political crisis, a day after anti-government protests erupted into violence in Kiev. The ministers discussed the situation in Ukraine during their meeting and expressed concern about the legislation passed by the parliament in Ukraine last week putting restrictions on protests and demonstrations."These legislative acts would significantly restrict the Ukrainian citizens' fundamental rights of association, media and the press, and seriously curtail the activities of civil society organizations," noted the statement. The EU called on the Ukrainian authorities to reverse these developments and to bring legislation in line with Ukraine's European and international commitments.
