The European Union (EU) Sunday expressed its solidarity with Egypt after the beheading of 21 Egyptian Copts in Libya at the hands of Daesh, according to EU Foreign Affairs Chief Federica Mogherini.
In a statement distributed by the EU embassy in Cairo, Mogherini offered her heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
She said she would meet with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Washington to offer her condolences over the victims, the statement read.
This terrorist act is a strong reminder of the ordeal faced by the Libyan people and migrants of different religions, she said.
