EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Wednesday the EU ministerial council will meet on Monday to decide on the recognition of the national Syrian council. At a joint meeting with the Egyptian foreign minister Mohamed Kamel Amr she also said that EU financial institutions will give Egypt loans worth 5 billion euros next year. Amr, meanwhile, said Egypt signed seven grants and easy term loan agreements with the EU during Ashton’s current visit to Egypt.
