Deputy head of the Evangelical Church in Egypt Andre Zaki condemned on Saturday a blast that hit the Italian consulate in downtown Cairo.

The explosion left one person dead and nine others injured.

In a statement, Zaki renewed rejection of all forms of violence, asserting that the terrorist act is contrary to all human and moral values.

He urged the international community to unify to combat terror.

Egypt will never stop exerting efforts to achieve complete stability, he said.

He extended condolences to the family of the killed and wished speedy recovery to the injured.

According to initial inspection by Cairo prosecution, the consulate was hit by a car bomb that severely damaged the building.
